For example, this cauldron, and these wands. Percy Jackson fans have a great excuse to research the greek and roman pantheons. Other fandoms like The Mortal Instruments make good excuses for drawing sigils. The only drawback of this excuse is that super conservative Christians ban things like DnD and Harry Potter, but it's rare when this happens. "It's for a school project. " This excuse is aimed at younger witches who are in school. If you're caught researching something on Wicca or the occult, you can say "it's for my religious studies class at school" or something. Say you are writing an essay or a dissertation. This can also work for anything artsy and crafty you might do (e. g. clay sculpting, making a pretty BoS, drawing sigils), you can just say it's for your art class. "I'm practising mindfulness. " Some schools, colleges, and workplaces offer courses on "mindfulness" as a way of handling stress, especially around exams. When you get down to it, mindfulness is basically just meditation, grounding, and centring! Teas are a great way to incorporate subtle herbal magick into everyday life. Go to your local shop/farmers' market and buy some different blends. You can often find teas containing herbs that are regularly used in witchcraft. "I want to exercise more. " Sometimes the simplest way to practice witchcraft is to just go outside and get out in nature. If you can't find the excuse to do this, just say you want to go for a run, take up hiking, or grab a breath of fresh air. Perhaps make a dedication to go on a morning walk everyday, and on this walk just concentrate on your surroundings and notice the God and Goddess in everything you see. Observe the changing of the seasons, leave yourself open to signs and messages from the universe, or make yourself a nature altar and worship at it periodically. If you don't have a good nature-y place to have a walk, then consider walking around a cemetery/graveyard, or your local park. Personally I find that cemeteries have a certain kind of peaceful and nature-y energy about them, and they're often quiet too. Even if you don't have a nature place nearby, just walking around a town or city can be a grounding and rewarding experience. Observing the bustle of people, the plethora of sights, sounds, and smells, and spotting the subtle signs of nature is still a more-than-adequate way to contribute to your magickal practices. "I'm studying psychology. " If you view witchcraft from a psychological point of view, this can definitely help you with research and practices without looking like a loony in front of your family. A lot of occultists research Carl Jung, as he was influenced by and contributed a lot to occult practices, especially Shadow magick. Also look into things like the placebo effect, and some stuff by Sigmund Freud. A lot of his work can be compared to concepts like the kundalini and teachings from the kabbalah. Michael Kraig's Modern Magick mentions Freud a lot. I recommend visiting r/SASSWitches for more witchcraft from a psychological perspective. "I want to look after the planet / I'm an environmentalist. " I mean you're a witch so you probably care about the environment regardless, but you can definitely use this as an excuse to re-use food jars, grow herbs, look after houseplants, and things like that. Also, donate to charities & food banks, do beach cleanups, plant trees, or volunteer at animal shelters as a service to the God and Goddess. Being a pagan or a witch doesn't mean just praying to your deities and casting spells; it's a lifestyle, and everything you do should further your faith and practices. There are some more ideas here. Write poems and use them as spells. If you play an instrument, write some witchy/spiritual music. Learn to knit/sew and make bracelets, poppets, sachets, tarot sleeves, and charm bags. You can incorporate knot magick, colour correspondences, weave in witchy symbols, attach embellishments, and charge the items with intent as you craft them. You can give your crafts away as gifts. If you're a green witch then definitely do gardening or horticulture. These hobbies are a little more obscure but take up wood-turning or black smithing. Make your own wands, deity figurines, runes, athames, cauldrons, jewellery. Learn corncraft, the art of making things out of corn. This is a good excuse for making Bridget crosses and corn dollies. There are a few more ideas here. "I have a passion for science / astrophysics / cosmology / geology / geometry / botany / etc. " This is a good excuse for getting into astrology, tracking moon phases, collecting crystals, growing herbs, and anything like that. Working out natal charts actually uses a fair amount of maths, and if you're looking up the correspondences of different planets and moon phases you can easily play it off as you're one of those space nerds. Also the universe is freaking awesome so there's that. I highly recommend downloading the free open-source program "Stellarium" for tracking movements of the stars and planets. You can track retrogrades in real time it's actually really cool. If you love crystals you can say you really like geology, I'd recommend looking up what compounds make up different crystals and things like that to make this excuse more authentic (also learning is fun! ) If you're a green witch I'd recommend getting into botany, the study of plants. Learn to identify local and indigenous specimens and their correspondences.

Only after losing two thousand years with his lover did the Devil realize such ways were self-destructive. In the end, one must reap what they've sown. " I shoot a glance at Solomon. His face betrays no emotion, but a question appears in my mind. Wise words, or empty platitudes? Solomon is the Knowledge-Seeker. However, that doesn't mean he's right about everything. What he sees as a greedy power-play by Satan could also be interpreted as his way of protecting his ass. After all, in the beginning, Satan possessed no special abilities, unlike Lucifer and the others. He was vulnerable to the machinations of his fellow demons. Tricking the others might not have been the polite way to go about securing his safety, but he didn't use his power to hurt them, either. He only prevented them from spreading his guts all over the floor. Later, he found out about the side-effects of his Blood Contracts, and sought to have other demons sign his scrolls. But, despite that choice, he didn't murder them and take their abilities. If anything, I'd say Satan's use of his Blood Contracts was... resourceful? He turned dead demons into power for himself. He recycled their souls into magical abilities for himself. After all, if a demon died, their power would be lost forever, but inside of Satan, they would still be able to fight for their people. I'm sure there were many human generals who'd have offered their lives for the good of humanity if they could accomplish something similar. Honestly, when I put Satan's actions in practical terms, it's hard to find fault with him. He may have been self-serving, but compared to what the angels did to the demons, he's a friggin' saint.... Satan enters his chamber. We follow behind him, and the first thing I notice is the lavish bed placed against the opposite wall. Tiger and bearskins line the floor and provide cover for the cozy-looking leather mattress. Their soft fur appears comfortable and inviting. A few candles in each of the corners light up the room, but what catches my attention next startles me. Dozens of little wooden animals, carved with love and care, sit on pedestals, in holes cut into the walls, and atop the bed's headboard. The nearest one, a roaring tiger pawing at the sky, features etchings for the tiger's stripes, and each of his tiny little individual claws stands apart from the others. Even without any paint adding color to the five-inch animal, I can make out intricate details that would cause a seasoned artisan to blush. My eyes flick to the bed. Belial, wearing as little as ever, sprawls out on the covers. Her knife-fingers rapidly whittle and cut apart a chunk of wood in her hand as she molds it into the shape of an eagle. Satan barely acknowledges her presence. He sighs as he enters the room, walks over, and plunks his butt on the corner of the bed. "Haah... " Belial pauses to stare at him. She smiles cheerfully, but a hint of worry creeps into her voice. "Welcome back, lover! How was your day? " Satan shrugs. "The same as ever. Hey, I thought I told you not to trim your sticks on the bed. You're getting wood chips everywhere. " ".. Sorry. I was just so busy daydreaming about what it would be like to fly. I forgot what I was doing! " Belial's voice perks up, but her tone sounds forced. I watch Belial's luminous red eyes. She stares at Satan's back, only to follow his gaze behind me, to the corner at the right of the entrance. I mimic her and flinch in surprise as I spot a massive crystal resting against the wall. The transparent gemstone, with its appearance of a gigantic diamond, holds a curious sight. Nerissa's body. The succubus, still deceased, rests inside the crystal. Despite how she skewered herself with an icicle, her figure appears to be in perfect condition — Belial's handiwork, most likely. Based on the faded color of her skin, she's as lifeless as the last time I saw her. Satan stares at Nerissa's pale, nude body for several long seconds. "I... " Belial perks up. "Hmm? " Satan shakes his head. "Never mind. " An awkward silence follows. Belial watches the back of Satan's head, then nods, almost as if she's made up her mind about something. She drops her carving on the bed, reverts her knife-fingers to normal, and slinks up behind Satan. The succubus wraps her arms around him and nibbles on his ear. "Heyyy, what's wrong, love? Did something happen? " Satan exhales. "Well... yes and no. Some drama involving Lucifer. She won't get off my back again. " "Uh-huh. What else? " Belial pokes Satan further. As she kneads his shoulders, Satan's hardened heart weakens. "... I finished the last Blood Contract today. " "Ooh! " Belial's eyes sparkle with delight. "That's wonderful news! Do you want me to give up on Nerissa? Would you prefer for me to stop looking for a way to save her? If Valac can bring back the dead, then that means it must be possible for someone else to do it, too. I can't give up until I've exhausted every possibility. " Belial purses her lips. "You checked the powers of everyone who signed your Blood Contracts. Even if you intend to continue searching for a reanimator.. you could look for centuries and still not find one as talented as Valac. What then? Will you continue chasing after a dream forever? Will you forsake the rest of us? " Satan averts his gaze. He twiddles his thumbs for a moment before replying. "It's just... I screwed up everything, you know? Because of me, Valac enslaved and tortured Nerissa. She suffered because I wasn't there to protect her. Not only that, but I screwed things up when I returned. I killed Valac and upset the balance of power. Even if I don't regret killing him on principle, my actions screwed up the world again. My contracts nearly got everyone killed. " Satan hesitates for a moment. "Everything I touch falls apart. I'm a failure as a demon... and as a leader, too. If I can bring Nerissa back... if I can fix one thing without ruining something else... " Satan falls silent. Belial mirrors him. The succubus flops back on her pillow and stares up at the ceiling. A minute passes. Two. Three. "You're not a failure, Satan, " Belial says. "Nerissa was nearly as powerful as Lucifer. She knew how to handle herself. You shouldn't place the onus on yourself, as if it were your job to protect her. Raphael tortured you in the Cosmic Realm. Should Nerissa have blamed herself for not saving you? " Satan shifts his sitting position slightly. "Of course not. I was the pants in the relationship. It was my job to protect her. " Belial appears unconvinced. "I thought you said you didn't even know how Valac died? How could you have protected Nerissa if you weren't a match for the Grim Reaper? Bael did most of the heavy lifting during your battle, assuming you were telling the truth. " Sweat slides down Satan's neck. "Ah... yeah. I suppose you're right. " He swallows audibly. "Dwelling on my actions won't change anything. What matters is the future. I can't afford to lose focus. " The Devil's expression turns grim, but Belial licks her lips playfully. While Satan broods in silence, Belial slowly stretches her arm across the bed and begins climbing his back with her fingers. "You've had a long day, love. Come to bed. Now that you've scrubbed all those pesky contracts, I think it's time for a celebration. Don't you? " Satan flicks his gaze toward Belial. "Hm? " The succubus nestles against the bed and presses her body against the tigerskin covers seductively. "Come on. I'm ready and waiting. " "I don't know what you see in me, " Satan says with a sigh. "A moderately attractive demon, one my sister loved deeply. If Nerissa cared about you as much as she said, then I'd like to pick up where she left off. Isn't that good enough? " Satan raises an eyebrow. "What, so you only like me out of duty? Am I just an obligation for you? " Belial wriggles uncomfortably. "Ohhh, you always do this to me! Stop asking questions, you turd. " Satan's expression turns to one of confusion. "I, err, why? I mean... you and I... we're only... " "We sleep together every night, " Belial says. "Do you want me around or not? " "You're sending mixed signals, " Satan says. "Weren't we just about to...? " "We are still, but I want an answer first, " Belial says. Her face turns stern. Despite Satan's arms pressing her soft, voluptuous body against his, she keeps her head several inches away so she can gaze into his eyes. "What am I to you? " The Devil doesn't pull away. His eyes meet hers. They stare at each other in a way that makes me feel uncomfortable watching them as an outside observer. This moment is supposed to be private, something I shouldn't see. The room turns pitch-black, and both of them begin to giggle like children. The serious mood melts away far faster than I expected, and within a minute or two, the sounds of grunting and moaning begin to fill the room. I look away and nudge Solomon. I think I've, err, seen enough. " Solomon turns and stares me right in the eye. "No. Wait for it. " "Uhh... wait for... wait for what? I'm pretty sure I don't need to see what comes next. This room is private, you filthy-" The Devil snaps his fingers to ignite the candles in the room, revealing himself and Belial buck-naked, both of them drenched in sweat and... other fluids. At the foot of their bed, a familiar demoness, dressed all in black, stands quietly and stares at them. Her onyx-colored eyes gaze at the two lovers from beneath her hood. She rests her arms on her hips and stares at Satan and Belial with a judgmental attitude. "I'm sooo sorry to interrupt, " Berith says, sarcasm hissing through her teeth. "Something urgent came up. I need to speak to you. " Belial blushes. "If you wanted to join us, you could have just asked. I'm fine with threesomes. " Berith's expression flattens. I'd sooner cast myself into a roaring volcano. " Satan's jaw drops as he glares at the shadow-walker. "Cripes, Berith! You could have waited until the morning! " Berith cocks her head. "Hm. Probably. Oh, well. I'm here now, so let's get right to the point. I wish to speak to you about becoming the First Emperor. " "Huh? " Satan blinks in surprise. "I'm not even interested. You can have the title if you want it. " Berith hisses. "I wasn't offering you the position, you damned dolt. I want it myself. I came here to ask for your support. I can muster the backing of many of Valac's former demons, but Lucifer's minions don't respect me. However, a noteworthy portion of her followers admires you. If I were to receive your endorsement, I would have the backing needed to take control of demonkind. " Belial crosses her arms over her exposed breasts. "Sheesh. You could try asking a little nicer. " Berith snarls at her. "Quiet, succubus whore. The grown-ups are talking. " "Whoa! Whoa! " Satan pounces out of bed, aided by his Vectors. He lands on the floor and raises to his full height, two inches shorter than the Emperor of Backstabbing. "Don't you dare speak to my girl like that! First, you barged in on us, then you insulted us, and now you expect me to do you a solid? I'm not one to smack a bitch, but you're pushing your luck. " Berith's upper lip curls in disgust. "You worry too much about pretty words. That's what I hate about the people on Lucifer's side. You're all soft and weak, not like Valac. " Satan's temper starts to flare, but Berith holds up a finger. "I didn't come here to ask without giving something of equal value in return. I need your endorsement to become First Emperor. Tell me what you want, and I will find some way to give you whatever you need. An equal trade. " Satan stares at Berith for several seconds. Then, he lowers his Vectors and begins to chuckle. "Hehe... you... you want to... to give me something? Hehehe... that's funny. You're funny. I never took you for a jokester. " Berith doesn't smile. "I'm dead serious. He gestures toward Nerissa's crystal in the corner. "Fine. Fine. If you want my support, then help me bring Nerissa back. If you can do that, I'll vouch for you. If you can't, then piss off. I ain't giving you anything but a knuckle sandwich, otherwise. " Belial punches her palm. "Yeah! What he said! " Berith lowers her pitch-black eyes. She stares at Satan contemplatively as she searches her mind for an answer. "Mmm. I worked alongside Valac on many occasions. I know many of the intricacies of his powers. One thing is for certain; the only way to bring someone back from the dead is if you were to somehow come into possession of their soul. Valac's lantern served as his receptacle for souls. If, during Nerissa's death, you somehow happened to obtain her soul before it entered the Great Beyond... " Berith trails off. She stares at Satan, as if waiting for an answer. Satan returns her gaze. "Huh? So, are you saying I can't bring my girl back unless I have her soul? There's no other way? " Berith shakes her head. "Valac was quite clear about that. He would often take the souls of those he disliked and place them in the bodies of their enemies. A peculiar past-time, but one of the few hobbies from which he drew pleasure. As long as you have a person's soul, you might be able to bring them back. Since you have Nerissa's body, you already have half of the components needed to return her to the realm of the living. " Berith splays her fingers out and makes a sweeping gesture with her hands. "However, based on your expression, I assume you've nothing left of her soul. " Satan shakes his head slowly. "No... "Gone... for good... " Belial stares at Satan's back. "Lover... " Satan's shoulders sag as thoughts run through his head. When Samael speaks inside the Devil's mind, I hear the Archangel's voice, projected via Solomon's Crown. Satan. I'm sure thou knoweth this already, but it bears mentioning. Ye signed a Blood Contract with the ice succubus. I have seen its form in thy mind. However, when she died, her soul did not appear in thy grasp like the others who signed. I know not why this is the case, but some treachery was surely at work. Satan nods, but he doesn't reply. Speaking to Samael in front of others must still be a no-no for him. Samael continues. "However... perhaps, given how thou tooketh the souls of Titans after crushing their heads, such a brutal action might bear results. Shoulds't ye remove the crystal protecting her body, ye might be able to crush Nerissa's head and obtain her soul. I believe it is a course of action worth attempting. " Satan slides his hand up his chest and presses it against his heart. His eyes waver slightly. "Yeah... that... that might work... " Berith hisses at Satan. "Kss. What are you babbling about now? Are you going to answer my question, or am I wasting my time, here? Surely, there must be something I can do to-" Suddenly, Satan jumps to his feet. His sudden movement surprises Berith and makes her pause. "Quiet, " Satan mutters. "Belial. I've... I've just thought of something. I can take the souls of anyone's head I crush. I'm going to... to try it on Nerissa. " His words, slow and measured, make Belial blink in surprise. "You're going to... TO WHAT?! " "You heard me. I'm going to crush your sister's head. Once I have her soul, I can revive her. " Belial balks. "No way! Satan, that's awful! What are you thinking?! " Satan wets his lips. He flicks his gaze toward Berith for a moment, then turns to face Belial. "I would never consider it under any other circumstance. Valac mentioned something, once. A theory. He told me it wasn't more than a hunch, and he never bothered to investigate it. " Satan leans forward. "What was it? What theory? " His eyes widen as he breathlessly awaits Berith's next words. Well, as I said before, Valac captured souls via his scythe and stored them inside his lantern. In your case, it seems crushing someone's head will give you their soul. However, if either of you should miss your chance, the soul would travel to the Great Beyond. Once there, reclaiming it would be virtually impossible. " Belial, still standing on the bed, stiffens at Berith's words. "V-virtually? So... you're saying there's a chance...? " "Possibly. However, Valac said it would take a monumental amount of mana to reclaim a lost soul from the Great Beyond. I believe the phrase he used was, 'More than all of demonkind, angelkind, and Titankind's collective mana reserves combined. ' So, it would be essentially impossible. " Berith watches Satan's face as she speaks. When a look of realization and hopelessness hits him, the shadow-walker chuckles wryly. "What's the matter? Not what you wanted to hear? Has reality set in, yet, or are you going to continue fantasizing about that succubus for the rest of eternity? " Satan scowls at her. "That's my business, not yours. Shit. I still had a sliver of hope before... but now... you've taken even that away from me. " "Hahaha! " Berith cackles. "Well, you haven't done me any favors either, Satan. Let me know when you're ready to talk business. Otherwise, I'll pretend this embarrassing conversation never happened. " Berith's lips curl upward in disgust. After a moment, she spins on her heel and storms out of the room, leaving Satan and Belial alone with their thoughts.... Satan presses his face against his hands. "Dammit... damn. Damn, damn, damn. That fucking... stupid... shadow-walking piece of... " Belial drops to her knees and slides across the bed. She wraps her arms around Satan and presses herself against his back. I'm sorry, love. I thought after our discussion earlier that things would improve, but now... " Grief takes Satan. His chest shakes as he tries to stop himself from sobbing. He presses his hands against his eyes. "Chrrr... it's useless after all! I can't do anything!! I failed again... I failed her... " Belial stays quiet. She gives Satan a minute to release his anger and sadness. He chokes and coughs as raw emotions come boiling to the surface. "Not fair... not fair... it's just not... " Satan pauses. He sniffles for a moment, then wipes his arm across his face. wait... it can't be. Was this... what I needed? " Satan raises his head. He stares at Nerissa's crystal for several seconds. It's the end of November and with 2019 coming to a close rather sooner than later I figure this would as good a moment as any to take a look at upcoming servants and meta shifts for the NA server. Since we do have access to our Clairvoyance EX on NA, why not make good use of it and see what options we'll have next year that we didn't have before? I started this mostly for myself to see what I want to roll for next, but I might as well share it, maybe some of you will find it useful. Most people will of course look at 2020 and mostly think about this being the year Skadi comes to NA. Unsurprisingly. If JP is anything to go by (and usually JP is everything to go by), Skadi will dominate the farming meta for the years to come. So of course she's being highlighted for good reason. But Skadi aside, there's quite some other new servants throughout the year (because of course there are) and some of them are very much worth the look. Besides that, I'll take a look at major events throughout the year and what to expect from them as well. So that of course means that this thread will be full of spoilers. If you don't like those, you're definitely in the wrong place. I will, however, not include every single event or change, stuff like 1/2 AP Campaigns, Hunting Quests, Anniversary Milestones and similar things are just not very interesting to discuss on the base of servants alone. I will focus on new servants, major events, last rateups for servants, stuff like that. Final disclaimer: While I tried to be thorough, I might have missed something, especially in terms of "last rateups". Do not solely rely on this to plan ahead but if you want a servant, check their availability by yourself please. You can do so, for instance, with the individual campaign pages on - like this (and yes, no Ishtar in 2020 at least I won't waste another 1100+ SQ on her this year without her showing up. ). So, without further ado, let's go through it, right? January We'll start the new year with the 2018 New Year Campaign Banner possibly minus some servants we already saw in Thanksgiving (Gilgamesh comes to mind). Besides lots of Tickets in the Shop and as a reward campaign, the summoning banner features lots of excellent servants, with Melt's second appearance and of course Hokusais release on NA. As good a time as any to spend your christmas money right away, if you're so inclined. This will also be Musashis last rateup for at least the coming two years, she didn't have a rateup again after this on JP, so if you missed her during Shimosa, this is your last chance. That aside, January will also see the DaVinci Rerun which is another unlimited lottery event only with Pieces and Monuments instead of Skill Gems. While that might be less attractive for many people, the event also includes Bones, Dust, Fangs and Proofs, which will make just as many people very very happy. Following DaVinci, we'll have Setsubon, so you better have a lot of 1-3* servants prepared, otherwise the Fatigue mechanic will be somewhat of a pain to deal with (though I'm told it's not as bad as it seems, really). February Either very late January or at the beginning of February, we'll have the Valentines Event, including the release of Semiramis. Also in February, the K'n'K Rerun will hit NA and give Masters their last chance to get the [Assassin Shiki Welfare]( (Assassin)), which you really don't want to miss. The event also sees the last rateup for Saber Shiki. She also didn't have another rateup on JP, so if you want here, now's the time. The same applies for Asagami Fujino, who has her one and only rateup during this event. She has never seen JP again. Other than that, February sees the Strengthening Quests Part VIII, which includes Strengthenings for Kiara (which will have a rateup soon after during the 12m DL Campaign at the end of February), Melt and several other servants. March March will start of with the Chaldea Boys Collection Summoning Campaign, which mostly focuses on Proto Arthur. It used to be his last rateup, but just recently he got another one on JP. We'll also see the Saber Wars Rerun in March, including, of course, the ever so delightful [Saber Lily Welfare]( (Lily)). A far less critical servant than, say, Assassin Shiki, but a Welfare nontheless - and you can never have enough of those, as the Drama around this years "Halloween Event" on JP without a welfare has shown. It's also the last chance to get MHX until late 2021, so while we know she'll return with Saber Wars II, she'll be a looooooooong way out. That aside, March is a relatively quiet month, a time for rest before April when the year really gets rolling. April April is when the Lostbelts and Chapter 2 finally hit NA, starting with the Anastasia Chapter release (assuming we don't count the Prelude this year, that is). While the Lostbelts are notorious for taking ages to be released, they are also known to be (mostly) excellent in writing, so that's something to look forward to. Naturally, with it we'll also get a host of new servants to enjoy. With the ever-loved Queen of Snow Anastasia - the Servant, this time, everyones favourite Goth-Kitty [Atalanta Alter]( (Alter)) and a new 3-star in Avicebron in the first Campaign and the massively oversized Ivan the Terrible (honestly, his battle sprite is Chonker - not quite Kingprotea size, but then again, what is? ) and another (sadly: story-locked) 3-star in Saliery in the second Banner. However, while this already is a massive release, it's by far not all that graces us in April. We'll also have the Journey to the West Rerun, which includes this year's first solo-rateup for every masters overwork main support Waver. We'll also see the release of Nezha, a solid 4-star AoE Lancer. Turns out, Nezha already joins us with Salem in a few days. My bad! All in all, April seems like a great month to spend some Quartz, but beware, the Skadi release is coming and it's coming fast. May Technically released at the end of April on JP, Inheritance of Glory happens mostly throughout May and with it comes another Welfare in Sieg, an Arts AoE Caster that can loop! Don't miss him! It's a Raid Event, so that's a nice change of pace. Moreover, the Summoning Campaign also sees the release of Achilles and Chiron, with the latter having his one and only rateup during it. If you want him, this is the time to roll for him. May will also see the Interlude Campaign 5 with skill upgrades for Scheherazade and Brynhildr and an NP Upgrade for Da Vinci. Lateron in May, we'll have the Murder at the KOGETSUKAN event containing the last known rateup for Sherlock Holmes (correction: he has a 1-day shared rateup with Skadi at 3rd anniversary. This is his last solo rateup). The Event is just a series of quests to enjoy moreso than something to grind and farm. That will be reserved for the GUDAGUDA Meiji Ishin Rerun, which includes NAs last chance of acquiring the Chacha Welfare servant. Again: far less crucial than Sieg is but hey, free servant is free servant, right? Finally, something that is surely going to break some hearts, May will have the last rateup for Okita for at least 2 years. She hasn't seen another rateup on JP since this, so if you need to dip into your Skadi Funds for her, I guess few people will blame you. And while we're at breaking hearts, the 13 Million Download Campaign will be the last chance to get the Summer Servants Lancer Tama, Archer Anne&Mary, Lancer Kiyohime and Surfer Mordred so... even more reason to throw around Quartz. Make sure to prioritize appropriately. June Real-world summer is here and since we apparently didn't have enough welfares in the last months June will have two more for you. The month will see the next GUDAGUDA which includes Sakamoto Ryoma as a Welfare and the release of [Okita Alter]( (Alter)) and the limited 3-star Okada Izo. Yes, he's limited, indeed. Not even story locked. Also, speaking of summer, the Dead Heat Summer Race Rerun with Rider Ishtar Welfare also happens in June. It also happens to be the last chance to get a lot of the summer servants released with the original event, so if you want to grab Saber Fran, Assassin Nito, Maid Alter, Archer Helena or, most likely, Lancer Raikou, you need to get them here. Caster Nero and Berserker Nobu will have one more rateup (and Raikou theoretically so, but we don't see KYOMAF Banners on NA, so... don't bet on it). And then, finally, it's time for this year's main course. July July starts of calmly with an Interlude Campaign that includes an NP Upgrade for Columbus and a Skill Upgrade for Passionlip, followed by the Lostbelt 2, Götterdämmerung Pre-Release Campaign and Chapter Release. These Banners include Napoleon, Sigurd and the Valkyries and a Master Level Update to a max of Level 150, which includes a raise of the Friend Limit to 90, AP Limit to 142 and Command Point Limit to 113. That aside, Götterdämmerung is also the last chance to get Brynhildr for the forseeable future. And if another Lostbelt wouldn't be enough already, 3rd Anniversary will follow suit, finally add give us Skadi, the Command Code System, a set of Costume CEs, a storage Expansion (from 350 to 450 each servant and CE storage), tons of free quartz (for EoR Completion and for the cumulative login bonus change amongst other freebies), another set of Strengthenings (including, critically, Paracelsus one) and the All the Statesmen Rerun with Paul Bunyan as Welfare. So that's a handful. With Skadi upon us, the farming meta will change majorly towards quick servants for... basically it never went away again. While Arts-looping is very much still a thing (even moreso than ever before! ), many many people still just prefer double Skadi over anything and every discussion about new servants analyzes through the lense of double Skadi first and foremost. Major advice though, while you might get a lot of free quartz during the Anniversary, this is the first and also last Skadi rateup for a long time. She only just showed up on JP again with the 18M Download Campaign this November, roughly one and a half years later. And with how important she is in the farming meta, you really want to stock up on SQ beforehand if you don't want to miss her. We all know how Gacha is a cruel mistress and if you bank on the free SQ to carry you to Skadi, you might just miss out on her and that would be bad if you want her. August With so much happening in July you might think your Quartz is safe if you managed to get whom you wanted, but I can bet you that this won't be the case. While things might not come around as thick and fast anymore as in July, we still have 2020s Summer Event coming up early in August and with that, we do not only get a regular amount of Summer servants with Summer Jeann, [Summer Ibaraki]( (Lancer)), [Summer Ushiwakamaru]( (Assassin)), Summer BB, Mysterious Heroine XX and [Summer Medb]( (Saber)), but. in addition to all that, also a third summoning campaign that includes Dantes and we all know how terribly great he is with Skadi already, right? So if you just picked up Skadi in July, here's your best chance at getting Dantes alongside her for happy 3t farming. Moreover, the summer event will come with [Summer JAlter]( (Berserker_Alter)), a welfare berserker variant of the fan-favourite servant itself. Or, as /u/Inkaflare rightly pointed out: she's freaking Jalter in a swimsuit. So if regular JAlter hasn't found a way into your Chaldea yet, here's your chance to rectify that at least a little bit! And, as if we didn't have enough Summer Servants already, August will also see the 14M DL Campaign (or the NA equivalent of it, moreso), which includes the last known rateups for Archuria and Summer Marie. You'll also get a bit of SQ if you have a lot of Strengthening Quests finished, as the rewards for those change from 1 SQ to 2 SQ and will be awarded retroactively. September It's September and that means, it's time for Nerofest. But before that, the Fate/Accel Zero Order Rerun will happen and grace is with the last chance to get [Irisviel]( (Dress_of_Heaven)). Irisviel is by no means a crucial servant to have, but still - if you mis her here, you won't be able to get her anymore, so don't be slacking off just because summer is over! The summoning Banner contains the last rateup for Iskander, as well as (amongst others) rateups for Waver and Zerkerlot, so there's your go if you feel like upping your Zerkerlots NP levels to pair him with Skadi. Also, while Zerkerlot is non-limited and can spook you any time (and is part of every 4* ticket), if you want to go ham on him, go here, since it's his last rateup. Finally, we'll see the release of [Saber Diarmuid]( (Saber)) with this rerun. And then we'll have this year's Nerofest - or rather: Gilfest. It's called Battle in New York and you better have your Apples ready for it. Alongside the usual stuff, the boxes contain Dust, Proofs, Homunculi Babies and Serpent Jewels and the Summoning Campaign includes Gilgamesh (of course) alongside Queen of Sheba. Oktober So after the gacha onslaught that was July and August and the comparatively quiet September, October sees little more than Halloween x2 and an Interlude Campaign. It's a time of respite after lottery farming in Gilfest. First, we'll have the Mecha Eli-Chan Halloween Rerun which is your chance to get either your first Mecha Eli or of picking the other one this time around. Yes, you can have both, yes, they are completely different servants and you can even field both of them at once, yes, they have the same kit and yes, they have different voicelines. Afterwards we'll see the Interlude Campaign VII with Interludes for Cu Alter and Cleopatra, amongst others, before we'll go to this year's Halloween Event featuring the vilest of all Onis as a welfare for a change, [Caster Shuten]( (Caster)). The Event's Campaign comes with Sitonai and her... Bear/hound called Shirou. November November starts off with the 15m Downloads Campaign giving us another 4* Ticket which will be even harder to chose from than last time and the second and last time Abigail gets a rateup. Also, the 15M DL Campaign sees the introduction of 5* Embers which net roughly three times as much exp as 4*s and can drop in the FP Gacha as well, rejoice! Shortly following the Celebration is the Christmas Rerun and it's limited lottery. Just as this year, it's going to be limited to 10 boxes and it's also the last known rateup for Ereshkigal, so if you fail to roll her this year, next year's your last chance (or at least until DW readds her in the future). The welfare of this rerun is, of course, Altera the San(ta), so if you're going to miss her in 2019, there's your chance again, although I would recommend getting her already. This is the event from which on we'll get RP for duplicate welfare servants we alread acquired in the past, so that's free 5 RP for you right here, which is, quite frankly, very good. If you still lack some of the Da Vinci CEs or Mystic Codes, this is your best bet! Afterwards, we'll see the prerelease and release of the third Lostbelt, S I N, including brand new servants in Xiang Yu (another servant with a huuuge sprite), a new, strong Arts Support in Lanling Wang and Quin Liangyu in the first banner, alongside the so far one and only rateup of the the Challenge Quest Monster that is Qin Shi Huang and also Yu Miaoyi, together with a new, story locked 3* servant in Red Hare. If you ever wanted a Pony as a child but your parents didn't agree with you, maybe he will be your thing? But honestly, QSH is the big story here and if you think about getting him, get him now. During S I N, we'll also see the Bond Level expansion coming to NA. Using Chaldea Visionary Flames Masters can unlock additional Bond levels up to 15 (one at a time). Each reached bond level is rewarded with 30SQ as an extra incentive to bring your favourites to quests. In addition to that, NA is going to see another Thanksgiving Banner in this timeframe. The contents of that are, as always, hard to predict. This year, we've seen several skipped banners like KYOMAF and the Fate Apocrypha Commemoration Campaign and I could see that happening again, as that generally makes a lot of sense. Commemoration Campaigns are always difficult to do in NA (because, well, they commemorate a real life event that often is 2 years in the past at this point), so why not push the servants we might have missed into a Thanksgiving Banner? December The last month of the year will give us the Christmas Event and our first Ruler Welfare in the Samba Santa Quetzalcoatl. That aside, December is a relatively calm month... but a lottery event makes up for it tenfold with all the farming that comes with it. Final words And that's that for 2020. The highlights are, most definitely, Skadi and QSH, but we'll also see three new story chapters when the Lostbelts finally hit NA, lots and lots of welfare servants and well liked servants outside of the mainstays. I hoped this helped you plan ahead with your rolls for the year and get a general idea of what's to come. If you want to know how much quartz you have until a certain date for a certain servant, you can always use this spreadsheet together with this calculator to get a good idea about how things will look for you. It's not perfect, especially since we get bonus quartz for NA at different intervals than JP (like how we get SQ for Anime Expos but not for KYOMAFs, naturally), but still... it should give you a decent enough idea how things look. I hope the gacha is good to you and you roll all that you desire, but remember, gambling is gambling and just because you spend 600 or 1000 SQ on a servant, that doesn't mean that they will show up. I should know. Yes, I'm still salty. Be smart about it and set your expectations as low as you can. If you pay with real money for your quartz, be responsible and don't chase your losses. But most of all, have fun with the game! Let's have a good start into the quick meta and an amazing 2020 all around!
